What is Hot Work? (Tulityökortti)
Hot work refers to work activities that involve a risk of fire. This includes tasks such as welding, cutting, and metal grinding, which generate flames, sparks, or heat. Hot work is often performed at construction sites, as well as in metal factories and the chemical industry. When performing hot work, it is essential to follow safety instructions strictly due to the fire hazard.
Who Needs a Hot Work License?
A hot work license (hot work card) is mandatory if the work involves using flames, sparks, or hot equipment, or if you act as a hot work safety watch. At temporary hot work sites, you must always have the license with you. Permanent hot work sites are designed to be fire-safe and are equipped with compartments that prevent the spread of fire.
