How do you get a Hygiene Passport?

Who needs a Hygiene Passport in Finland?

The Hygiene Passport proves that you understand the basic principles of food hygiene and safe food handling.

A Hygiene Passport is required when a person works on food premises and handles unpackaged perishable food once the amount of work covered by the legal requirement reaches the statutory limit.

A Hygiene Passport is commonly needed in workplaces such as:

• restaurants

• cafés

• commercial kitchens

• grocery stores

• catering companies

• bakeries

• food factories

• other food production businesses.

An employer may also require a Hygiene Passport before the statutory time limit has been reached.

For this reason, obtaining the Hygiene Passport in advance can be useful if you are planning to work in the food or restaurant industry in Finland.
