Is the taxi driver's further training in Finnish?
Yes. The training is in Finnish, but the trainer can speak English if needed.
Is the taxi driver's further training mandatory?
According to the new Taxi Transport Law, the training is mandatory starting November 1, 2026, if you want to renew your taxi driver's permit.
Is there an exam after the training?
No, there is no exam after completing the training.
Do I need to fill out the renewal application form after completing the further training?
Yes. We will report the completion of the training to Traficom, but you must submit the application yourself through Ajovarma.
How can I renew my taxi driver license?
If you are under 45 years old, you can participate in the further training and book an appointment directly at an Ajovarma service point. If you are over 45, you must first undergo a medical check-up and request a medical certificate for the license renewal. After that, you can complete the further training and book an appointment at an Ajovarma service point.
If you do not have a valid passport, identity card, or a driver's license issued after 2013, you must also attach a passport photo to your renewal application.
How long is the taxi driver license valid for?
The license is valid for 5 years. If you are 68 years old or older, the license is valid for 2 years.
