The practical training is primarily conducted at our training facility in Helsinki. After registering for the training, you will receive the address and detailed instructions by email.

Depending on the number and location of participants, the practical training component may also be arranged in other locations across Finland. Any such arrangements must be agreed upon in advance.

The Driver Training for Special Passenger Groups is supplementary training required under the Finnish Transport Services Law for all taxi drivers providing Kela-compensated or healthcare transport services (Sote transport). The purpose of the training is to upgrade drivers' knowledge and skills in serving passenger groups who require special assistance and support when using taxi services.

Without completing the Driver Training for Special Passenger Groups, you may transport private customers who pay for their journeys themselves. However, you are not permitted to provide Kela-taxi services, social and healthcare transport services (Sote transport), or school transportation services.

Partially. The theory lessons (14 hours) can be completed entirely online. In addition to the theory lessons, you must complete the practical training (7 hours), which is conducted exclusively through in-person instruction.

The duration depends on when your taxi driver licence was issued.

If you've got your licence on or after 1 July 2018, you are required to complete the full training programme, which consists of 21 hours of instruction held over three training days.

If you've got your licence before 1 July 2018 and has been renewed when required, you only need to complete the practical instruction, which consists of 7 hours of training and can be completed in a single training day.

The complete training  (21 hours), including both theory lessons and practical instruction, costs €399 + VAT.

The practical training only option (7 hours), intended for drivers who are required to complete only the practical instruction, costs €129 + VAT.

The theory lessons are entirely online, so you can participate from anywhere in Finland.

Your training completion is usually updated in Traficom’s system within a few days. You can check the validity of your permits on Traficom’s website.

The training is not mandatory for taxi entrepreneurs if they do not provide Kela- or social and healthcare transport (Sote) services. However, it is recommended for all professionals working in the taxi industry.
