According to the new 2026 legislation, to obtain a new taxi driver's license, you must complete a 21-hour basic training course for taxi drivers.

We offer you Traficom-approved training that allows you to apply for a taxi driver's license upon completion. With us, you can complete the training easily and conveniently online! (evenings and weekends available).

How to complete the taxi driver basic training?

1.Register for the training in advance! We will contact you as soon as the training dates have been announced.
– You can also contact us; we are happy to tell you more about the training and reserve a spot for you in the next course.

2.Participate in the training
– The training lasts a total of 3 training days, i.e., 21 hours (7 hours / day), and is organized entirely online.
– You can easily join using a computer or phone from anywhere.

3.Receive an official certificate
– Once you have successfully completed the training, you will receive an official Traficom-approved certificate from us, allowing you to take the taxi driver exam through Ajovarma.

Is the basic training for taxi drivers mandatory?

Yes. Under the new taxi transport law, the training is mandatory for applicants of a taxi driver's license starting November 1, 2026.

How should I proceed after completing the basic training?

Once you have participated in the training, you will receive a certificate from us and an entry in Traficom's professional qualifications register within a few days. Once Traficom's information has updated, you can register for the taxi driver exam at an Ajovarma service point. After passing the exam, you can apply for a taxi driver's license.

Will I automatically get a taxi driver's license upon completing the basic training?

We provide comprehensive basic training for taxi drivers and clear study materials, but we do not have the authority to grant driver's licenses. The taxi driver's license is issued by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency, Traficom.

In addition to completing the training, obtaining the license requires passing the taxi driver exam and providing a medical certificate. Furthermore, criminal record entries and the applicant's state of health may affect whether the license is granted.

Do I need to complete the taxi driver basic training if I already have a taxi driver's license?

No, you do not. If your taxi driver's license is valid, you are not required to complete this training. If you wish to renew your license, you must complete the taxi driver refresher training instead.

Does a taxi driver's license allow me to drive all types of taxi rides and vehicles?

With a taxi driver's license, you can drive all types of taxi rides for various dispatch services, such as Bolt, Uber, or Taksikeskus. The vehicle can be of any model, if it's registered for taxi transport.

Kela taxi rides, social welfare (Sote) transport, and school transport are special group transport services and are therefore an exception. To drive special group transports, you must also complete the Driver Training for Special Groups.

If you wish to establish a taxi company or operate as a self-employed driver under a sole proprietorship (toiminimi), you must also complete the Taxi Entrepreneur Course and apply for a taxi operating license from Traficom.

How long is a taxi driver's license valid for?

The taxi driver's license is valid for 5 years. For people over 68 years old, the license is valid for 2 years.

Do I need to hold a Finnish driver's license to obtain a taxi driver's license?

You must hold a valid Class B driver's license issued in Finland, another European Union (EU) member state, or a European Economic Area (EEA) member state. The driver's license must have been held for more than one year.
